I’m Gillian, the founder and principal of Hawthorn Coaching & Consulting. I bring 20+ years of direct experience leading multinational teams for Fortune 100 and 500 companies, government organizations, and small business startups. My experiences as a full-time employee and consultant in the high tech and energy sectors, combined with an M.S. in Organizational Leadership, provide me with insight into the challenges that professionals, and, in particular women, face within and outside of the office. Simply put, I understand organizational cultures, environments, politics, and, most of all, people, because I’ve been there.
I’m also a certified wellness coach and an advocate for people who face transitions — voluntary or otherwise — that impact professional and personal health. Through ongoing research and direct personal experience, I’ve gained in depth understanding of the physical impact of stress on the body, and I guide clients toward adopting manageable, holistic techniques for recognizing, avoiding and recovering from burnout and chronic illness. Hawthorn Consulting provides an avenue for me to contribute to the greater good by applying my professional and life lessons, as well as academic research, to help professionals get unstuck, shed ill-serving habits, and journey into a path of discovery that they define as uniquely meaningful.
Equally as important, I’m a writer, a nature enthusiast, and I’m wickedly passionate about horses — especially my buddy, Bica, who continues to teach me invaluable lessons about boundaries, communication, tenacity, values, and connection.
